My name is Mike Harris, but my friends call me “that guy who is always hiding behind his camera”. Yeah, It’s true. I’m obsessed with transforming a scene, an event, or a special moment into a photographic heirloom. Memories fade over time. Photographs not only freeze the moment , but help to rekindle emotion the way an old song can and refresh a nearly forgotten memory. My daughter is three years old now and already I begin to forget what she was like as a baby until I view the photographs. The memories of her building her first sandcastle at Seaside or playing in the Salmon Springs fountain come flooding in. This is what inspires me and my love of photography.
I’m primarily a location portrait photographer. Creating a dynamic portrait outdoors using whatever is available on location is a lot of fun for me and my clients. I enjoy bringing the studio to the client mixing natural light with studio strobes or small flash to create dramatic images. I also do studio sessions upon request.
Besides portrait work, I photograph events and food as well. I shoot several events each year for the American Cancer Society.
